Twenty years of Rambari.

One night. One stage.

His first solo concert. Ever.

So he went back to where it started.

Lahiru Perera on stage in the early years, braids and aviators, mid-song

Then · 2008 to 2016

Born 1984, Kehelbaddara. Taught himself on his sister's organ and wanted to be an audio engineer. At 24 he wrote a song a whole country learned by heart, then eight more.

La Signore in pink: beret, pink glasses, cable-knit vest

Now · 2017 to 2026

The mask, the pink, the crown on the bee. The one who walks on when Lahiru steps back: a fragrance, a live series, a second act called 2.0, and now one night at BMICH.

Lahiru makes the music. La Signore makes the night.

On Sunday 15 November, for the first time, both of them are on one stage.

Every song is carved somewhere.

    Where were you in 2008?

You know the words. You just haven't sung them in a room with 1,600 other people.

    The sound, rebuilt by hand.

A live band. Yak bera. Three voices. Every hit, re-arranged for one room.

A bee that wears a crown.

The bee does the work. The crown shows up for the night.

That is the whole story of La Signore.

For everyone who ever shouted the chorus.

The one sewing at dusk. The tuk driver. The stilt fisherman. The one in the glass tower.

On Sunday 15 November, you are all in one room.

He is already up there, waiting.
